In order to apply for this card, you need to meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older
  • Applicants must have a valid US address

How to Apply

Step 1 – To begin the application process, follow this link to the SFCU application page. Two options are presented to you; apply for a new loan or check the status of an existing loan. If you haven’t already started an application, click “here” in the first sentence.

Step 2 – Next, you are presented with a list of loan options on the left side of the page. Select Credit Cards from the list and click Apply Now.

Step 3 – At this point in the process, SFCU asks for some basic information. Enter your First Name, Last Name, Social Security Number and Member Number. If you do not have a member number, un-check the box beside Is Member and select the affiliation that applies to you using the drop down menu. Click Submit to continue.

Step 4 – The main part of the application consists of a series of empty fields meant for you to fill in. SFCU asks for a lot of information, but you don’t need to fill in every space. The following list includes the mandatory pieces of information.

  • Marital status
  • Email address
  • Physical address
  • Start date (day you moved in)
  • Status (rent, own, etc.)
  • Home phone
  • Work phone
  • Employer
  • Title (of current work position)
  • Amount and frequency of payment
  • Start date (day of hiring)

You may choose to fill in all the blank spaces; in the end it will help SFCU determine if you are an eligible applicant or not. Once you are satisfied with the information you have provided, click Next.

Step 5 – The final step involves you choosing your credit limit Requested Amount, the Purpose of this credit card and the Card Type. Select the Stanford Federal Credit Union Platinum Select Rewards Credit Card from the drop down menu and, if you wish, choose your Card Design. At the bottom of the page, check the box under the Credit Report Authorization section to authorize SFCU to obtain your credit report. Below that you have to check the box to show that you have read and accepted the terms and conditions and to certify that all the information you entered in the application was indeed correct.
