I signed up for the Missouri State University Cash Rewards Visa when I started my last semester, because the idea of cash back tied to the university seemed like a neat bonus. The approval process was straightforward and I was able to get modest credit lined up even as a student. I like that rewards accrue on everyday purchases and it’s not overly complicated.
On the downside: the rewards rate isn’t quite as high as some of the big bank cards I’ve seen, and there are fewer premium perks (travel insurance, lounge access) than luxury cards. Also I wish the online dashboard was a bit more modern.
Overall it’s a very good fit for a student or alumni who wants simplicity and cash-back without heavy fees. I’d give it a solid 4.2 stars.
