The Total Visa Unsecured Credit Card is aimed at consumers with damaged or limited credit who want an unsecured card without a security deposit. It has no traditional rewards appeal, while its fees and high interest rate are major considerations.
Most users say the biggest benefit is simply getting approved when other cards may be difficult to obtain. Some cardholders also mention that responsible use and on-time payments can help with credit-building.
However, many reviewers mentioned frustration with fees, payment processing, account restrictions and customer service. Recent Trustpilot and BBB reviews contain numerous complaints about payments taking a long time to post, unexpected charges, declined transactions and difficulties resolving account issues.
Personally, I think this card is mainly worth considering for someone who has very limited alternatives and needs an unsecured account to rebuild credit. Anyone considering it should read the complete fee schedule carefully and compare it with secured cards and other credit-building options first.
This card charges steep fees just to open and maintain an account. The credit limit is low, making it hard to use for real expenses. Interest rate are high, so carrying a balance is expensive. Overall, it feels more like a burden than a helpful credit option
I have had my TOTAL VISA card for 10 years with a beginning credit limit of $250. I have never been late on a payment in all that time and I have almost always paid over the minimum payment due. I have asked numerous times for a credit increase and have been denied. I got another credit card at the same time (also a secured card) and they have increased my credit by over $600.
